Apologies for the downtime…

If you did try and visit the site during the past 2 days and found some random page instead of this website, then huge apologies! For whatever reason, although we had renewed the Sally-Hawkins.com domain name on time, the status of the domain on our registrar’s records didn’t make the same smooth transition, so it seemed as though the domain had expired, even though it was still very much alive!

We are now back up and running again, so a big thanks to you for your patience, and to our domain host! :)

Media extravaganza: “Sally Files” from tommo!

Great news or those who have been following our (unexpected) series of Sally Hawkins‘ interviews! You can now download all and more of her interviews in both audio and visual formats! :) The file types vary according to the original media, but this site is definitely a treasure mine of Sally Files (coined by tommo), and you can find the link to the website below:

A huge thank you must go out to tommo27, a Sally Hawkins fan who has worked tirelessly to compile this audio-visual extravaganza! The current list of files include:

No doubt more are to come, but if you wanted to see everything, this is the place to go! I personally really really enjoyed watching the TV interviews (particularly GMTV and Film 24′s Bitesize) as these clips are extra hard to come by, and pictures are of course worth a thousand words. I am 100% certain that you will enjoy them too if you haven’t already seen them, so do take a look!

p/s: An extra special thanks to tommo for letting us feature her hard work on S-H.com!

Happy Birthday to Sally Hawkins!

Since we only get to do this once a year, we would like to make a special news post to wish Sally Hawkins

A VERY VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

This year is definitely turning out to be one of her best! Of course, this is built on all her hard work to date, and her work-rate has been truly astounding, hopefully she will get some time out to rest and enjoy herself before the next big projects come her way! :)

Thank you to Sally Hawkins for putting in so much thought into her roles, and also for providing us with such great comedy (the likes of Concrete Cow, Ed Reardon’s Week etc.) They really do add to our lives! ^^

With best wishes for a fantastic day and for the rest of the year

Milo (and Coggy!)

Sally Hawkins on BBC Radio 4 “Woman’s Hour” with Jenni Murray, April 16th 2008

Sorry about the slight delay in posting this news! As you can tell from my Twitter updates (see right sidebar) I had started working on this post 4 days ago, but RL became so busy, I never got round to actually finishing it, so apologies for the wait!

As tommo has so beautifully put it, we (the Sally Hawkins fans) are being terribly spoilt at the moment with the deluge of multimedia of interviews featuring Sally Hawkins! :) More news to come on that, but in the meantime, here’s yet another interview with a different flavour to those from before!

BBC - Radio 4 - Woman's Hour

Sally Hawkins won the best actress award at the 2008 Berlin Film Festival for her performance as Poppy in Mike Leigh’s latest film ‘Happy-Go-Lucky’. She talks about her starring role as the chirpy upbeat London primary school teacher who refuses to put a negative spin on life, and why as an actor she is drawn to working with Mike Leigh.

The interview with Jenni Murray, chair of the weekday BBC Radio4 programme Woman’s Hour, had a more serious tone to it, where JM and SH analysed, in particular, Poppy‘s character in the film. Having listened to the more light-hearted interviews where SH laughs quite a bit, this interview had a more ‘grounded’ feeling.

This is not to say there weren’t some humorous moments during the interview, because there were (and I laughed with them :D ) but I found this interview particularly enjoyable, as they really dissect some of the scenes from the film in a lot more detail. This maybe because they have a longer time for the interview than before (9 minutes) but another plus point is that: one can never underestimate how great it is to listen to two very soothing voices on the radio!

You can catch it the entire interview on the BBC Realplayer by visiting the link below:

As usual we have included the transcript of the interview below the ‘cut’, so feel feel to click on ‘continue reading…’ to read the interview in full. There are a few words I didn’t quite catch, so if you happen to know what they were, please please let us know!

Sally Hawkins on ‘The Kiosk’: Interview with Nadine O’Regan, March 29th 2008

Are you tired of interview news yet? I really hope not, because here’s another one for you to savour! The news comes courtesy of dana_7385 from the Sally Hawkins Domain, and this time, Sally Hawkins talked to Nadine O’Regan from the The Kiosk, a Saturday programme from the Dublin-based radio station Phantom 105.2.

The interview took place just after Sally Hawkins had won the Silver Bear Award for Best Actress, and although it is quite short (about 6~7 minutes), they manage to cover a lot more than just Sally Hawkins‘ role as Poppy and the filming of Happy-Go-Lucky; including her ‘big break’ through Mike Leigh, as well as her other roles in Little Britain and the other TV adaptations, especially Fingersmith, where both NR and SH become quite indignant about the media uproar at the time.

The show is available as a podcast, so you can either listen to it online (on the website or clicking on the ‘play’ button below) or download it for your own mp3 player [23.4MB]. The interview takes place between 10:50~17:20 if you want to skip straight to the ‘important’ part! :)

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
