Video Q&A Session with Sally Hawkins at Berlinale 08

You might not have known that Sally Hawkins won the prestigious Silver Bear Award for Best Actress for her role as Poppy in Happy-Go-Lucky earlier this year during the Berlin International Film Festival or Berlinale. As part of the ‘official’ media coverage, she gave a short Q&A video interview where she talked alot about Poppy‘s character and how Popopy interacts with the people around her.

You can watch the video by visiting the 3sat website, but just in case it’s down, we’ve included a transcript of the interview below the cut (after ‘Read More…’) so feel free to read through the text as well! I would personally recommend watching the Q&A in full, only because Sally Hawkins‘ expression adds so much more to the dialogue!

Jason Solomons interviews Sally Hawkins on Guardian Unlimited Film Weekly, April 17th 2008

As part of this week’s edition of Film Weekly, Jason Solomons interviews Sally Hawkins and Eddie Marsan about Mike Leigh‘s new film, Happy-Go-Lucky. This news update is courtesy of babsden from the Sally Hawkins Domain, and the interview starts off with a brief clip of a dialogue between Poppy (SH’s character) and Scott(EM’s role) during a driving lesson.

It then moves onto the actual interview, where they touch briefly on playing the characters, and talk about filming the driving scenes; and I have to say, although we do focus on Sally Hawkins on this site, Eddie Marsan was incredibly funny as well. They make such a good combination during the interview, and Sally Hawkins‘ laughter is really very infectious!

Not the funniest part of the interview, but just to give you a teaser:

JS: Did you have any accidents?
SH: Yes, just a few.

As a side note, after reading and listening to a couple of interviews, the common theme is that Mike Leigh really does keep his actors guessing during the filming!

Sally Hawkins’ Interview with Nemone on BBC 6 Music, April 17th 2008

Just to show we are (abit) up-to-date with Sally Hawkins‘ latest news, we’re posting a quick update to let everyone know that she was interviewed today by Nemone on BBC 6 Music as part of the Film on Thursday special!

Just a little more to go!

Since the site migration to WordPress last week, we’ve been gradually adding the missing parts of the old site to the new site, although it has been a slow process as we do have to check everything by hand afterwards. The good news is that the navigation menu is finally working (again) on both Firefox and Internet Explorer!

The latest updates are to the Writing section, where all the articles & interviews have been transferred over. We still have to move the reviews & synopses section, and that will come along later this week.

We have several news releases lined up for the rest of the week as well, and to give you a quick low down, Sally Hawkins won a very prestigious Silver Bear Award for her role in Mike Leigh’s film ‘Happy-Go-Lucky‘ only just last month; which was followed up by an award win from the Royal Television Society. There will be several media clips and interviews that you might find interesting, as well as 2 interview transcripts! I think it’s quite easy to say that this year is definitely one of Sally Hawkins’ best!

Migration to WordPress

It’s been a while since we’ve updated Sally-Hawkins.com, but more works are planned for the year (Real Life plans allowing!) However, the important thing is that we have now ported our news over to a brand new system called WordPress, which is a blog/cms system that is famous for its 5-minute installation procedure.

We’re slowly bringing back the relevant news pages (as well as customising one of the custom themes ‘Fauna‘ into our original HTML layout) so if you still want to read and catch up on the old data, everything can be accessed by visiting:
